I noticed in one of your pictures that you had a diffrent looking hide. It looked like some weird looking hay flower pot with a hole in it. I want to make one that looks like that. What is it? Also, how big of a hole will I need for my BP. shes pretty long and ROUND. Im not sure if mine will be able to fit inside one that big.

It's a coconut fiber plant holder/liner thingy that you can buy at Walmart or any garden center....they are pretty kewl. Here's the thread that describes it:

Yup, Caren got to it before I did, but she's right on the money. You know hanging plant baskets that people keep ferns and such in? These are sold as the liner for those baskets and come in a few different shapes and sizes starting around $4 or $5 in pretty much any store that has a good garden section. She still loves that hide, and it's easy to turn into a humid hide or leave as is, and can be cut to the right height to be snug for your ball python. You can either cut an access hole in the base with garden snips or similar, or you can cut it higher up in the side to simulate a burrow like I did.

Edit: By the way, there's still no mold on the hide. Apparently coconut fiber is quite mold-resistant, which would explain why it would make a good hanging basket liner. I'll be buying more of these when finances are a little less tight around here.

Also, I have a question for Marla ... I see you have the doggy bowl inside the hide ... Is that your only bowl in the setup or do you have another drinking one?

Blink, thanks. I think it's my best creative reptile moment so far when I came up with that. That is the only water dish in the setup, but when it's not in use as a humid hide, the water dish is next to the coconut liner instead of under it -- how it is right now, actually. When I get her into a Sterilite home (soon, I hope), I should have room to have two dishes, but right now I have to squish the hide just a little to fit it and the other hide and the water dish in lengthways.

I think I'll be picking up atleast two liners today, hopefully the have a small size liner for my baby. Those liners look awesome.
