Just a gripe

So, I bought my hognose, Argo, a little over four weeks ago. The breeder is near Seattle, I live in Corvallis (for the non PNWers, that's about five hours apart). We had made tentative arrangements to meet half way, or meet when she came down to hunt with some friends. Near the end of october, my car situation got resolved and I sent her a text asking if we could meet in a week where I'd be in Vancouver (near the half way point)
She said no, which was fine because it had been short notice and offered the next weekend or weekend after when a friend of hers was going to be coming down.
So next weekend comes and on friday I hadnt heard from her so I asked again. Nope, this weekend won't work but weekend after her friend was coming to a town nearby and could probably meet me. I said ok.
I messaged her yesterday to see if it was on, and she didn't know but would try to tell me when she did. I asked her if she would be open to shipping and she would but "it was expensive unfortunately and if you wanted to got that route you could set it up"
I asked her what an estimate for the shipping would be and if she was registered with reptiles express or ship your reptiles. No answer. I asked what argos hatchdate was and what a recent weight was. No answer. I asked for a recent picture. No answer.
Awhile ago I texted to say i could meet tomorrow if it was still on and... no response agh. I did tell her that if it can't work tomorrow then I'd rather ship her. Still no response.

From some previous texts I get the feeling she has some family and personal things going on so I'm not pissed or anything. I'm just frustated

Hmmm well if I were in your shoes I would be thinking that this is getting a little fishy with the lack of communication: I'd keep a dispute in mind if you're in the 45 day grace period and/or look into your cc company if you paid with a cc through PayPal. I hope she comes through and you get your little guy and all turns out well!

I know she has a kid and a pregnancy in the family, as a surgery going on so I know her life is hectic- but yeah I wish the communincation was better.
Im pretty sure the snakes are legit and not a scam...she was selling them at an expo I was supposed to be at which was when I crashed my car and why I paid paypal rather then purchase her in person. Though there's still the chance mine got sold.
I'm keeping it in mind, but I don't want it to come to that I just want my snake!

I always am the worried one...I would be freaking out thinking that all the things in her life are going wrong and she is trying to get as much $$ as she can to help. Getting cash and then pushing you off until you have passed the grace period to get your money back....

If she has that much going on then how does she have time to meet up for a hunt that is 1.5-2.5 hours from her from plus the actual hunting trip? I would call her and just give a polite ultimatum, "Hey I know life's crazy and I appreciate you understanding my car accident, but you and me both know this sale is getting a bit awkward...if we have to change dates again or if you are unwilling to ship then I will simply be asking for a refund". Leave a voice mail and send an email (*include a note saying that you will cancel the payment if she continues to refrain from contact, I would also attach a read receipt to the email, that away you will know whether or not it was opened), if she does not get back to you in one week (7 days) then I would cancel the payment...if she asks why, just refer to the email and voice mail . Just my $0.02, hope it works out.

Well I feel a little like a butt, turns out she got home from surgery today which explains part of the silence. I didn't know she was in though I knew it was coming up but not an exact date
Also, I get the feeling the shoulder thing is recent... she hasn't mentioned the hunting trip in awhile. I'd guess she hurt it in the two weeks before I figured out the car situation.

Don't feel like a butt yet, she still hasn't sent it off or made meeting arrangements. I hope this works out for you, but if not, I would only give it a few more days then I would see about getting your $$ back.

Don't feel bad at all. It's HER fault for not letting you know. When I start selling I am going to make sure to keep my customer updated frequently. I would never want my customer to question my honesty and integrity. Busy or not she's being a bad seller by not keeping you updated. If I was going into surgery or something I'd ask my boyfriend or mom or whoever to respond to customers and keep them filled in while I was out. Or at the very least, hey my surgery date is this day and I'll get back to you as soon as I can email beforehand.
