I found him! (or did he find me?)

My nearly six foot long Boa Constrictor somehow managed to escape from his enclosure on July 12th of this year (3 days after my brother passed away, which is how i remember the date) and i searched high and low for him, i was puzzled that a snake of his size can vanish from a completely enclosed, uncluttered room. After a month of searching, still very confused, i threw in the towel but still hoped he would show up.
About a week and a half ago i was sitting at my computer desk, browsing BP.net of course! Both of my dogs were laying next to my chair, out of no where i hear my Pit Bull growling very lowly (which i have never heard her do before) so immediately i turn around and what do you know? Emerson (my Boa) was inching his way up my dresser where Ricci (my four foot Iguana) was basking, i am sure he was going to make a meal out of her, or try to at least. In complete and utter shock, i leaped out of my chair and picked him up, getting bit a few times in the process (well worth it!) then put him into a tub since i had put his enclosure into the spare room after cleaning it. I am so thrilled that i found him, i've had him for a very long time and i definitely have an attachment to him. He has had two meals since he has been back so i am sure he will put weight back on rapidly.
Moral of the story? Never give up hope if your snake goes missing, they will most likely show up when you least expect it.

That's great that your boy came back! I seriously doubt he was going to try to eat the iguana - more likely that he wanted to share the heat where she was basking.

I dunno about you but if a pit bull was biting me a few times, it would not be "worth it".. Lol.

He was definitely looking to make a meal out of her and anyone that owns a Boa would say you can certainly tell when a Boa is in "feed mode". Regardless i'm just thankful that i got him before he got to my Ricci, she's my baby.
Also, there are four basking spots throughout the room, one being on the ground about three feet from where i found Emerson and it was easily accessible so it definitely wasn't him gravitating towards the heat.

The snake, LOL! If my Pit Bull bit me i think i would be on the way to the hospital instead of putting Emerson in a tub!

Had a boa for twenty years. They eat rodents and birds, not lizards.

A Boa will eat just about anything. When i kept Vine Snakes that fed strictly on lizards i would always give my Boa's any left over lizards and they would take them without hesitation.

I am sure the comment wasn't made as a snide remark towards Pit Bulls. I, personally, wouldn't want to get bit by any medium/large breed dog - The breed of dog in question just happened to be a Pit Bull.

Yep I'd rather take a bite from a snake. I've worked worth protection dogs of all types and can tell you the bite of a dog is very powerful even through huge padded suit. We just lost our little pit bull and she was a great little girl!

Boas certainly DO eat critters other than mammals.
