    Switching to f/t questions.

I am talking to a guy who has a 5ft hog island boa for sale that I reallt want. Only problem is it's a live feeder and I am scared of rats.
My question is how hard is it to switch a boa to f/t?
Thanks for any help you guys can offer.

I don't know about Hogs particularly. But boas in general are garbage disposals. Mine would eat anything you put in their face. I wouldn't think it would be hard at all to switch him.
If nothing ever changed, there would be no butterflies.

All my boas (including my Hog) have taken f/t off the bat so I'm sure you'll be fine: just heat up the feeder pretty warm to replicate a live feeder.

As DooLittle and Daybreaker have said, boas are easy to switch. They aren't like ball pythons in that department. You shouldn't have any trouble at all.

One tip - I would wait 2 weeks from his previous meal before offering the f/t rat. Let him get good and hungry. Then, when you stick that warmed prey in there and give it a twitch, he'll nab it. Use feeding tongs - boas hit HARD.

I second to all others say, warm it right and they will usually snap it, works with a lot of snakes

    Re: Switching to f/t questions.

Believe it or not, some people even feed them chicken parts. Like wings and drum sticks.

As already stated, boa constrictors are great eaters.

Great post as I just finished making a F/T rat dance for 15 minutes for our Royal python. She REFUSED,,, so now I'll leave it over night and I fully expect to throw it away tomorrow LOL!

    Go boas!!

I think you'll have no problems.

Also consider F/T quail. I'm using it now and getting a leaner, longer boa in just 3 quail feedings.

    Re: Switching to f/t questions.

Unfortunately the guy backed out on me. I think he was a scammer. So no hog island for me. That's okay though because I talked to Michael Beach and I will be putting a down payment on my dream boa a Cay Caulker on friday!!! *happy face*
