    Glee fail!

So, I don't usually watch Glee... in fact, tonight was the only episode I've ever watched. That being said, I felt like they failed. Glee has an audience of millions, and this week I'm certain the viewership was even higher as it was dedicated to Cory Monteith. I couldn't believe, as the episode ended, that not even once did the Glee "team" take the opportunity to mention drug addiction. Corey may have died from drugs, but he died because of addiction. A problem that worldwide kills millions!

Anyhow. was I the only one who was disappointed that they didn't take the opportunity to educate, or even post a simple "Do you know someone with a drug addiction? Call 555-456-4545"

I'll be sure to let Brad know he dropped the ball.

I think I've watched every episode of glee, I haven't seen tonight's episode cause I'm working but I'll catch it later on Hulu. The show has done more that it's share of preaching in the past but they don't usually get in your face about it which I actually appreciate. I watch TV to be entertained, not to be told right from wrong.

    I guess I watched a different episode.

After the show they brought up his addiction and posted help hotlines for addiction.

Not a fail. A beautiful tribute to a human who died to young for no good reason.

They didn't want to bring it up in the episode (ie, have drug issues brought up in storyline) because of the morbidity factor, as well as that episode being hard enough to shoot but they had helplines posted after the show.

It may just be me but I happened to see some music video with all the guys singing something and it made me think: "Wow, that's gay". Thus I've never watched Glee.

Please be mindful of spreading homophobic comments. I respect your opinion on these forums- don't give me reason to doubt it!

Unless you meant that it was a happy song, in which case you should've known better- being called Glee after all!

I'm sure Ryan Murphy will start taking into account how much homosexuality puts you off next time he creates a show.

Glee isn't a show I watch regularly; I've probably only seen about a third of the episodes over all the seasons, but I think they did pretty well. I think it was a good idea to not specify how Finn died, because the episode was about saying goodbye to him, not about HOW he died. Besides, I think everyone who watches it know how Cory died anyway, so why rehash it?When they said that they would write his death into the show, but they were not going to have it drug-related, I figured they would do something like texting and driving or something like that. I actually enjoyed it better BECAUSE they didn't say how it happened.

I think the thing during the credits where they spoke about addiction and gave a number was enough.
