    Killer pied

Got a real quick question, hope someone can she's some light on it, I plan on bedding my pied male to my pastel het pied female, plus plan on throwing in a super pastel male to it . By doing this, do I have a good chance to hit a killer pied ( super pastel pied )

    Killer pied

No, you have a Zero percent chance, you would either produce super pastels OR pastel pieds but not a super pastel pied

    No.
Pied x pastel Het pied = pastel pied, pied, pastel Het pied, Het pied.
Super pastel x pastel Het pied = super pastel, pastel. (Some of them being 50% Het pied)

However, if you breed your pastel het pied to your pied and hatch out a male pastel pied or pastel Het pied, you can breed him back to your female the next season and have a shot at killer Pieds.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but to be technical I believe this is not correct. Assuming the Pastel het pied is 100% het pied....I believe that some of them will be "100% het pied" and others will be "0% het pied". All of them would be considered "50% het pied" until proven or dis-proven though.

... just splitting hairs here though.

    one thing to consider:

you may get a multi-sire clutch, meaning some of the eggs will be from one dad, some from the other. (the others are correct, super pastel pieds are impossible, one egg has one mother maximum and one father maximum).

so all the normal looking ones will only be possible het pieds, not 100% het pieds. you only know for certain that those that did not get a pastel gene must be het pied. for the pastels, you will not know, and can only advertise and sell them as possible hets. if you get a super pastel, it will be a 50% possible het pied.

multiple possible dads, and sperm retention, can cause people to falsely believe they have a 100% het.

All normal offspring will be 100% Het pied. Super pastels do not have normal offspring, so the pied will be the sire.

oh yeah, i screwed up. normals must be from the pied male.

    so it will be:

    normals: 100% het pied
pastel: somewhere between 50% and 100% possible het pied
super pastels: 50% possible het pied
