Tired but really happy right now...

So today I converted our extra room into a ball python room. After doing this I had a really big cage (48"L x 24"W x 36"H) with nothing in it in my living room. I talked to my husband and told him how I really miss having a boa. (My first snake I ever had was a Colombian red tail boa which I had to rehome to a friend when he got 8+ feet and I no longer could care for him by myself) We talked it over and he told me if I could find a boa that didn't get so big that I couldn't care for it by myself I could get it. So I started doing research and it was between a Hog Island and a Dumeril. Even though I was exhausted from making my BP room, I went up to my local reptile shop where I have purchased 3 of my 5 BPs from. They had a sub-adult Hog but it was really aggressive (when you opened the tank it would strike at your face) and I decided I didn't want that. Then I asked if they had a Dumeril. It turned out they had a female adult and an unknown maybe 1 yr old that had came in. I was interested in the smaller one and the employee pulled it out for me. After holding the snake for all of two seconds I fell in love "he" is the sweetest boa ever... Well here's the back story I got on the little one: It was brought in a few weeks ago by someone claiming to have found it on the side of the road and just wanted to see if the store would take it to get it off of that person's hands. The employee thinks that it probably was just an impulse buy and they wanted to dump the dumeril. They put it in qt to make sure nothing was wrong with it and also to see if anyone came in claiming to have lost it. Now several weeks later it has gotten the bill of good health. It does have a patch under the throat where it looks like it might of had a burn at some time that has healed but is just a lighter color. It also has a small eye on the left side and a normal sized eye on the right. I'm friends with the owners and the one that was in today told me I could take him home for $100. However, I will have to bring him back in when the other store owner comes back from vacation to get "him" sexed on Friday. So til then I am calling it a boy and have named it a name that works either way "Rayvn". I am so excited about this little one!

I have done research on Dumerils but if anyone on here that has experience with them wants to give me any helpful advice I would appreciate it. I was told to feed him a small rat every other week, does this sound appropriate?

Here are pics of the cage:

Yes, there is water in the bowl. All my snakes get purified water so I know there is nothing in it. I don't give tap water so the water is pure and clean.
