Hey All,
It's been a while since I posted here. I was just posting with my happiness for getting a brand new Spider ball python. He is a beautiful little guy and I am happy to have him and pictures will be posted in a few hours when I can get some good images. But I have a quick question... This guy is the second spider that I purchased. The first one SEEMED healthy but when I got him home I noticed some bleeding from his vent... I was concerned and started to monitor it, I took him out and examined him and he seemed to be attempting to poop, he was lifting his tail as if he were going to and on closer inspection I saw blood. I was REALLY worried and called the shop that I got him from (I really like the shop and have been a patron for years) to explain my concern. I came in this morning and spoke with the owner who assured me that he hadn't noticed any issues with either the little guy that I had got or the other two from the same clutch. But really his assurances didn't change what I had seen. I have heard that sometimes when BPs shed they can bleed from the vent area but my concern is that this guy hadn't shed in a while (or so said the employee who helped me with him) and he was acting fairly normally other than the odd movements with his tail., I was just really concerned with it. And I think after spending a fair bit of money on him I have every right to voice concerns especially considering when I noticed the issues I hadn't had him for 48 hours. After assuring me that there was nothing wrong with the snake that he could see and exhausting every question he could ask as to what might have caused the issue he ended up giving me one of the little guys siblings... I guess what I am really wondering is if my concerns were truly warranted?... Does anyone here have any experience with this kind of issue? Perhaps I was just being paranoid... But in either case I feel justified in my concerns... Pictures to come later as well.
