Sudden Aggressive behavior?

The strangest behavior started a couple of days ago. All three have suddenly become aggressive. No one has struck at me but there is definite s'ing occurring. Normally all three are completely dormant during the day. Even if I mess with the tanks during the day (ie. fresh water, spot clean) they don't bother to pay any attention to me normally. But now if I open a door to the cage they all are out in a split second and s'ed up like they are ready to be fed or are in defensive mode. Now I know how crazy this sounds.....BUT....my female Bull Terrier just went into heat a couple of days ago. Is it possible they are scenting her?????? I did thoroughly clean their cages on Sunday and all three were fed then as well. What do ya'll think?

When my snake gets like that I know it's hungry. It'll get right up to the edge and just sit there looking at me with this attitude like 'I know you see me waiting here'. I think it's not impossible that your snakes are sensing the hormones/pheromones but I have no idea what effect mammalian hormones could have on both male and female reptilians that would cause them to react identically.

Hunger is definitely the trigger that gets my snake to behave the way you described.

What are your temps? Are you using an UTH? If you are, do you have a thermostat or rheostat?
Also, what are you using to measure temps?

Do you have all 3 in the same enclosure?

My temps are 82-85 on the cool side and at the uth it is 90 using a rheostat. I also have acu-rite humidity/temp. monitors and I use a temperature gun to spot check. (Yeah I know a bit overkill but I just happen to have the temperature gun and I'm ocd with my snakes.) All three are in separate tanks. I feed them weekly on Sunday. Dude is 120g and gets two rat fuzzies. Nagini is approximately 2700g and she gets two medium rats. Sirius is about 1400g and gets one medium rat.

Honestly, I don't see how they could scent the dog. It just seems highly unlikely but it so strange they started this behavior at the same time.

I agree with Havalian

My adult ball is/was as docile as can be for years and suddenly went Pyscho on me. It turned out it was massive hunger pangs.

Try offering two meals instead of one, but just downgrade on size a bit. See if that will help you.

Did you mean feed more often or more prey item per feed, as OP stated 2 of them get fed 2 items per feeding?

Mine jumped from 1 large Rat to 3!!!

You can also try larger prey items instead of multiple smaller ones. At the temps you have them at, they would probably be just fine taking larger prey sizes than you're currently offering.

I find that super hungry snakes often do better when offered one large prey item rather than multiple small ones - maybe it makes them feel fuller to have eaten one big thing than multiple little things, I'm not sure. I do know it tends to work for just about any snake species that gets cranky when it's hungry
