    Possible follicle growth?

My 2,800g female has been laying in a circle around her water bowl for about 3 days now. Humidity and temps have been perfect. I was told by my vet that if she is doing this, it is either too hot, or she is producing follicles.
I dropped her tempuratures a few degrees (vets instruction) and shes still doing it.

my question is, should i take advantage of the opportunity and throw my male in there? I was planning on breeding her this year anyway.

Certainly doesn't hurt to try. Has she ever laid before?

    Re: Possible follicle growth?

Have you tried palpating her to see if you can feel any follicles?

I'd be tempted , at that size, to put a male in and see if there was any breeding behaviour.

If you're [repared and have everything needed to breed them of course.

    Re: Possible follicle growth?

    Agreed,

If she is a normal with no recessive genes on either side then I would put both males in on the usual staggered pattern and hope for a double sired clutch.

She's just growing follicles right on schedule -- her schedule. I'd go ahead and start pairing her. Good luck!
