genes location on map.
This is kind of a two part thread and id love if people weighed in on thos with their thoughts.
1. I know there are back storys on alot of morphs from where they were found and where new base genes popped up in captivity but has anyone made a map of where they were found or originated from. Ive heard ppl talk at expos about it all the time and i know theres alot better ppl out there to find or make one then i.
2. Gene located threw out the world in captivity. I go to all and i mean all the southern ontario reptile expos looking for new genes (i need to update list at bottom) but it seems that theres small pockets of genes across usa canada and europe. Desert, mystic, woma, phantom. All seem to be harder to find here while corals, sugars, calico and clown just showed up. What do you have problems finding in your area and whats new in yours....

Those newmorphs you stated above are old news. Watch snake bytes newest episode. Brian shows a couple of the newest morphs

Click on a morph to get info. Source is usually the breeder who did the original genetics work, not where the mutant originated. Most of them originated in Africa and were cherry picked either in Africa or in whatever country a shipment got exported to.
Can't help of question 2.

yep, as Paul Just stated, most - almost all - morphs originate in Africa in the wild. Some pop up randomly in captivity, but even in that circumstance the original "het" for those recessive mutations - came from the wild. Interestingly with retics - Two of the newer genes popped up in captive breedings randomly - Motley was one that came out of an albino breeding. And Golden Child was another, that randonly popped up at NERD. .

Retics are my passion. Just ask.

It would be really cool to see a map of the Ghana region of specifically where each gene was found (if it were possible)...
