Play sand for leos

Can i use play sand for my leo instead of reptile sand? I don't want people to tell me not to use sand because I don't care if you don't like using sand. Ive had no problems so i don't care!

Since no one recommends sand, it's a little silly to expect anyone to be able to answer your question.

I know you don't care to hear it but you really shouldn't use sand. If you want a natural look that is safe for your leo try using reptile carpet. Impaction doesn't always happen, but why take the risk?

I use tile for my leos and paper towel for their "toilet" area. Easier, cheaper, safer and more sanitary than any sand.

She seems to like to dig and ive never had problems with it and she has been on it for 4 years so i think if something was meant to happen it would have long ago

Any loose substrate is a potential hazard to Leo's health. Sand, aspen, care fresh, it's all bad.

I actually don't see the point here. You are basically willfully and knowingly abusing this animal.

You can use play sand. Sift it a few times. Make sure its fine.

Its the babies that you gotta worry about but past 5" can be housed on sand and be fine.

There are big breeders who use play sand and have no problems.

Abusing? Don't think that word means what you think it means.
So, feeding a snake on substrate could cause impaction too...lets all say we abuse our snakes that don't lay on the mighty newspaper and such.

Repti-carpet stinks, little toes and teeth snag on it and it soaks up poop and pee.

I kept Beardies on sand for about a decade, and no issues at all. I've always been told no sand for them either, but I used it and it was great. And I fed them on the substrate, and they ate some, pooped out some, and spit out some.

Animals in the wild come into contact with sand regularly, but yet they continue to survive. Sure they don't live on it 24/7, but they also don't tell their prey to "please move to a nice sand free area so I can eat you" either.

And I'm pretty sure abusing is a strong word for something that's in no way abusive.
