What can go inside my homemade ball python enclosure that provides heat?
Im making a new enclosure for my ball python. I made it out of wood thus meaning a heat pad wont work so what can go inside that will provide heat other than a heat lamp?

Heating pad work okay on wood, it just takes a while for them to heat up. But I agree with the radiant heat panel idea.

Any cheap alterantives and the reason i cant use heat pads with the enclosure are that the walls roof and floor are made of polystyrene and will melt

Polystyrene? Isn't that the stuff that disposable coffee cups are made of? I would think that if it could hold a nearly boiling hot liquid it could withstand other heat sources. After all you don't want your heat to be much higher then the 90 degrees F anyway.

Polystyrene is "Styrofoam" and thats a good point

Ya know, I just googled that and it seems to me that it does have a rather low melting point for plastics, it's also supposed to be highly flamable. Personally I'm not sure I'd want to use that for caging material myself unless it was some kind of high temperature flame retardant variety.

Plywood and styrofoam? I don't mean to offend, but maybe you should have done this research BEFORE constructing a fire hazard?
