Maybe mites????? IDK. HELP!

What exactly do mites look like and where do they come from. I saw a few lil red dots moving around on a wood hide in my tank and removed it as soon as I saw it. But my ball has not been sitting in water an I haven't seen anything on her. Do they affect humans and should be treated like lice or what? And what do I need to get?

Reptile mites are black, not red. Just google it, you'll get a few million results

Sounds more like some kind of wood mite. You may want to clean out your snake's cage, but snake mites are black little spots that look a lot like poppy seeds.

They look like little black dots. Typically they are easiest to fine on the mouth/jaw area. The little red bugs sound like bugs commonly found outside, maybe wood mites, I'm not sure what they are. Wood or mammal mites will not harm a snake, only reptile mites can use cold blooded animals as a host. I personally don't like mulch or wood for that reason.
