    Exclamation Disease??

    I had a dumbo rat that seemed a bit more out of it than the rest and i come home today to find it dead!! Could this possibly be a disease or just a natural cause?? I rely dont want to lose my colony so any input is appreciated.

    It almost seemed its balance was off it always had its head tilted and it only ever turned left. it at one point bleed from the nose.

    Only time will tell. He probably had a bad URI. Clean the living area and watch closely for a while

    Sounds exactly like an inner ear infection caused by a pituitary tumor. I've had a few rats die of the same thing over the years.

    Head tilts and being off balance is a sign of inner ear issues.

    Bleeding from the nose is a sign of stress and most likely not actually blood. Its probably Porphyrin.

    When in doubt sterilize everything thoroughly. It may not be MCP but there's a good chance another Mycoplasma caused an infection...

    Sounds like the ear infections we get from time to time in the colony. It is treatable if cause early enough, keep an eye on the rest of them. Like was said before I'd clean and sterilize everything really good just to make sure.
