That is going to depend on a lot of things.

    Where is the hydrofarms probe?

How far off is the hydrofarm reading?

What substrate are you using, and how thick of a layer?

What size/type cage are you using?

Well, the thermostat will usually read lower/higher than the temp inside the tank because the temp probe for the Hydrofarm is between the glass and the heat pad.

What you'll have to do is adjust the thermostat up or down until the temperature with your heat gun is where you want it to be.

I have my Hydrofarm set at 97, and it keeps my tank hot spot at 90-91

Also, your temp gun may be inconsistent. I am pretty sure the Pro Exotics one i have is.

You may end up setting your thermostat to 95 degrees or more to achieve your desired hot spot temp depending on all the things mentioned above.

How thick is the substrate layer overall?

6 degrees different honestly isn't that much off considering the hydrofarm can be reading at least 4 F off and still be working "according to specs" Your temp gun probably has about the same error. That means they could read 6-8 degrees off of each other and still have everything be working properly.

Your thermostat probe needs to be directly on the heat pad (uth). When I set my first tank up I made the same mistake, your snake can burrow and move the probe causing the thermostat to turn on and overheat your hotspot.
