I have a curious cat who will jump on the top of my tank, so I'am looking for a screen top to hold him. He's about 10 pounds, I'am not very handy or I would just build my own. If anyone knows some brands or sites I can order from please tell me. I ordered a zoo med metal wire mesh but I don't think it's strong enough.

Gosh I would not let my cat lie on top of my tank! They love to try and get the snakes and mine always watches them, i wouldn't do anything to encourage her. But if you want to, I have 25 pounds on top of my mesh screen. It's like very small mesh chicken wire, very bendable but durable. I could send you some free if you want to try it.

A little worried about my new ball.

I'll try not to let him lay on it but, he'll do it when I leave. He's very curious, I just don't want to come home and one be gone

    yay!!!!

Oh that does suck. Try the wire if you want it I will send it to you. Also, rubbermaids are secure and should support Mr. Kitty. Make sure kitty doesn't get an unhealthy attraction to your baby though, or he WILL find a way to get it no matter what, they are clever cats. Maybe you could put stuff on top so he doesn't even have a place to lie on top the tank?

Here's another idea: Use a typical screen top, but pick up a piece of plexiglass that is cut large enough to fully cover the enclosure. This will accomplish a couple of things. It will support the weight of the cat, plus it help hold humidity in the enclosure and protect your BP from drafts.

To help train your cat to NOT jump on top of the enclosure, I have found that placing 2" wide packing tape, sticky side up, on top of the enclosure works wonders. After a time or two of jumping up there and getting tape stuck to his or her fur, the cat learns to associate being on top of the enclosure with something unpleasant, and will avoid jumping up there. It takes an occasional "reminder" treatment when the cat's memory starts to fail, but I've found this works well without risking any injury to the cat.

I'm taking care of my brother's hyper cat temporarily, and all she does is try to mess with the reptiles. My other cat, gwen, could totally care less about the cages and actually never even goes near them.

But the hyper one sits on top of my beardie's cage every morning. She was sitting directly above Emo where he was basking. Emo doesn't get scared of her anymore, and the cat doesn't do anything more than just look at the lizard. Kinda wierd.

Good thing is though the hyper one is scared of the python whenever I have her out.

I'am using a 29 gallon tank for my setup I have the glass lid that goes on the top it folds like a v. Would that be ok to use under a metal screen top the glass dosen't cover the whole top, it leaves some room for air(about 2 or 3 in).But would the heat lamp crack it??? When I had my tank my cat layed on it all the time so I know it's strong.
