So to give you a back story I received this Ball Python about last November for about 9 months we have had her. I got her (Elvira) from some lady on craigslist. It was her ex-boyfriends and she needed to re-home it because she did not like snakes, and he did not want it. As a kid I had loved snakes and other reptiles and grew up catching them in the hills of southern California but had never owned one because my dad is terrified of reptiles. When I got her she was about 2 1/2 feet long and in a 10 gallon tank and eating large mice. I felt bad so I instantly got her a 20 long and started feeding her small rats, and fixed up her new habitat and thought everything was good. She eats about every 10 days and have never had a problem with her eating, but noticed that when she would defecate it would be really small, perhaps about an inch long and mostly the dried urea and calcium. I never thought to much about it. She has a rather large corner water dish and is about 3 ft long now but the same defecation. I had heard that many times ball pythons defecate in water but she never really did. Today I randomly decided to put her in the bath tub and to my amazement she defecated what was mostly what looked like people feces but about 9 inches long in total length. The end of her tail is significantly less thick now and she is much more active. So I know now that I need to soak her in the bath tub to defecate but I am just worried that it had any negative effects on her health and is she okay now? She never seemed to be sick or anything but just kind of lethargic. Should I do this a few days after every feeding, and do you think she will be okay now? I'm just worried about her. Plus any other advice would be great. Thank you in advance.
