Breeding Dreams
So lately I've been having a bunch of snake related dreams. This isn't new for me...From time to time (usually during the breeding season) I have dreams about my snakes laying eggs and hatching sweet combos. LOL
So the last couple days I had a dream that my current clutch was hatching (it is on day 56) and it was a multi sired clutch! I did witness locks with multiple males, but only time will tell!!
Another dream I had was a future pairing of mine... Pastel butter female to Citrus Calico male. That clutch was hatching and I had a bunch of beautiful pastel calicos and a pastel calico butter!!
The only crappy part is that my Pastel butter female is sitting at 1200g and refusing food So I'm not even sure if I will get a shot at that pairing this year. Bummer!!

Haha! I have crazy snake dreams myself. The most recent one: I was checking the sex of my GHI female and it turned out to be a male. I woke up and was going to check the sex of her but it was 2 am and I decided to put it off until morning but I haven't done it yet.

Re: Breeding Dreams
I have been having crazy breeding dreams as well! I had this awesome dream that my clutch of 5 eggs (Normal to Dinker) all hatched and I had a bunch of pied, coral glow, and spider babies! It was as if every egg contained 5 babies because there were baby snakes everywhere! Best. Dream. Ever. I have also had more realistic dreams where I actually thought the eggs were pipping, and I wake up all excited only to be disappointed. Maybe one of these days my dreams will come true

My thoughts exactly!! I can only hope that one day I will have a huge multi-sired clutch of awesomeness.
I actually had another dream last year about hatching a multi-sired clutch. It was so diverse it even contained amazon tree boas, green tree pythons, and blood pythons along with the ball pythons. LOL
My mind needs to stop playing tricks on me and my eggs need to hatch!!

I don't want to encourage any 'bad behavior', but Kevin McCurley's book cites 1,000 grams as the breeding mark for females. I started pairing both of mine at 1200g this year and as soon as they had locks they started SLAMMING food every 5 days, gaining almost 500 grams each before actually going off food when they were gravid.

Ya know, I have heard this. The only reason I am a little hesitant is because she is a 2011 baby. So not only is she at the minimum age wise, she is at the minimum weight as well
I'm just nervous! She had been eating so well up until a couple months ago.. Grr!!!

I actually do this quite often myself. Once they hit that 1000g wall and start refusing food I'll often pair them up with a male. Sometimes they'll become gravid, often they won't, but it does usually seem to get them feeding again. It's one of those little known tricks that a lot of breeders will use but don't talk about much. Nobody want's to be taken to task by some 'internet expert' telling them what a horrible person they are for breeding their females so young.

Oh and on the subject of snakey dreams, I don't often have hatching dreams but a few times I remember having dreams where the babies hatched out with feet and wings which was pretty cool.

my breeding dreams always result in clutches where every snake is deformed, or i get impossible odds (normal x lesser resulting in stuff that looks like Super OD combos or (5 and 6 gene looking things) or champagne enchi. and i always think "What luck!")

No breeding dreams but my first snake dream was last week. I dreamed that my two girls I'm waiting on were already here and in their cages. Needless to say I woke up very disappointed to see two empty snake cages in my room.
