    Sad News for Falconers

So there's a good likelihood my brother will have to give up his falconry in 10 days. California has failed to enact some federal legislation regarding falconry, and they have 10 days to comply. If they don't, the Federal government will euthanize all birds in the state being kept by falconers, as California would then be allowing an illegal act.

I feel awful about this; this is one of the first things my brother had gotten into on his own thy he's really excited about...he loves this so much. He always is the runner up, and always seems to get the leftover projects/interests that nobody stick with. And we've been helping him get all his gear; there's a falcon house being built in he backyard that now may never be used....

Sorry for the downer thread...just feeling down for my little bro

Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry! That really stinks. As much as I love Cali, their government seems seeeeriously screwed up. :-/ I really hope Cali gets their butts in gear....:-/

My brother has a sponsor and everything; just has to get the mews (birdhouse) built and inspected, and he can send off for his apprentice license and trap a bird...

Why not get the word out so that the birds can be relocated into states where falconry is legal before the deadline? Or is it illegal to take them across state lines? I know nothing about falconry.

That's the thing; the DFG head said that the legislation would be passed before the deadline (they've had 6 years to do it and have successfully played 1800+ days away)
