    Picky eater

    Hello,
I have a new issue with my daughter's latest pick up. She is around 480g and only seems to like to eat every 2-3 weeks. She is in a proline cage with 2 RBI hides, lots of bushes and branches for concealment, heat panel set to keep the cool end at 78 and warm end usually stays around 90, humidity ~60. Should I be concerned or just deal with her picky eating habits and be happy that she is eating for me at all? Prey has been f/t wean rats (Laynelabs) and when I took her in she was on mice only. Thanks for any tips or advice.

I think you have your answer in your post, "when I took her in she was on mice only." It sounds like she is not convinced she likes the rats, but takes them when she gets hungry. I'd stick with the rats. She'll eventually give in if she doesn't see another mouse.

Thanks, I did have to scent the first couple of rats by defrosting them in a bag with a mouse before she took the first one so I hope you are right. I was hoping she would pick up with her eating I could move her to smalls and get some weight on her but I thought the size jump may be too much for her!

Couldn't have said it better myself.

You could attempt to sent the rat like a mouse and see if that helps. At least until she is slamming the mouse scented rats then just do away with it all together.
