    Major League Prospects?

I was browsing the different websites and came across the Major League prospect page of hand picked imports. Has anyone here ever taken a gamble with one of these animals?

Either you get a regular ball, something mild or something wild, right?

    Thoughts?

Opinion only here. He has some really nice animals, and clearly has an eye for the different. But I think his prospect stuff is way overpriced. Anyone remember David Fernandez? Amazing CH animals, and way more affordable pricing.

Just my .02, but I'm not much of a gambler.

I am yet to hear of a MLR prospect that has not proven genetic.

As for price, what are new genes or bloodlines worth to you? IMO Brant's prospects are for breeders that want to take projects to another level or prove out something new.

    Major League Prospects?

The biggest misunderstanding is nobody really understands the quantity I go through. Some may speculate, or even think the quantity is inaccurate. To compare my prospects to someone else who goes through a fraction of what I do and probably don't have the same eye, would be uneven. I can honestly say, others should be cheaper from what I know that leaves Africa. That being said, 100% of my prospect customers have been happy. While their investment is a risk, I am accountable to my customers and their investments and have methods to reward customers who do take that risk and might end up short. So any negativity about it, would come from someone who doesn't understand what I do, or has never purchased one from me.

As for this years prospects, they have been on hold for some time as someone is working on buying the entire lot.

Ouch. To be clear, I never said you were a bad guy, or even hinted at it. I simply expressed an opinion as to how I feel about CH animals that are priced over a hundred bucks. Opinion. But I see how you view people who just don't view CH prospects as "for them". Says everything I need to know.

Since you're here tooting your horn, do you back the health of these animals you sell?

I ask because I have two of them lying in my racks, that were saved from the freezer because they haven't eaten since last year, as I desperately try to get them going. But hey, I didn't buy 'em so I have no ground to ask questions I guess ...

    Major League Prospects?

I agree with a little bit on both sides. I've seem some stuff that makes me go "WOW!" and i've seen other stuff that make me go "ehhhh i wouldn't gamble and pay that much for that..." I agree with jinx though and trust brants judgement. He goes through a lot of babies and its not like he's trying to be shady about it. He calls them what they are, prospects. Not "poss. yellowbelly" or "poss. granite", "prove these guys out and make your own lines!".

I would definitely consider investing in one of the "WOW" prospects at some point. You never know what some of these morphs can do in combos. When someone first put a specter or spark to a YB who would have guessed the babies that freakin pop out?! Amazing!

This is great business ethics. I for one have been waiting to take the plunge into some of your imports and I am sure it will happen soon because of what you just said above. The pricing isn't even that bad considering if one of th proves out to be something for someone they could easily make tons of money off the project.

To me breeding ball pythons or any animal is the same as gambling. You can either win, lose or make out just fine with any clutch. They can die, refuse to eat, or breed. And that expensive morph you hypothetically just bought is now worthless for the time being. Which can cost any breeder a lot more than a $750 import.

My post about negativity wasn't even directed towards your post. I was speaking in general terms. And "tooting my own horn" at what?

And health of the animals I sell? Yes, to a logical degree absolutely. Like I said, accountability is something I actually enjoy. and two animals from me? This would be news to me. Please feel free to share the details with me if they did come from here.

    Major League Prospects?

In a nutshell, it's really just something fun and exciting if you choose to buy one and be a part of it. I don't press it upon anyone, promote them, or even really try hard to sell them these days. I don't mind holding onto them. The prices of them haven't changed 1$ since I put them up. They are never changing and that's just what they are worth to me. I completely understand and respect if they aren't worth that to someone else. That's the beauty of it all. My first comment about negativity was purely for understanding These prospects are what I consider the best 1 per 500 imports. That is about the ratio and why I feel they are deserving of the price.

I would be very confident investing in one of Brant's prospects. I have already seen some folks who have proven out their prospects. He has an eye for this kinda thing and from what I have seen of other prospects offered by other breeders it shows. I will eventually pick one up from him for a fun little project of my own.
