    need help identifying these balls

The dad is a fire ball, and the mom is a new unique female I picked up...well only 3 eggs but 2 are just crazy and at least fires but really I think something else is going on because I produced fires with same dad before and they did not look like this. Then the 3rd baby is really weird too. Black backed and all 3 babies have clear sheds. Any help would be great . here is pic of dad and mom too. I have never produced balls with more than one gene so I am lost in this. Andy

I'm new to all this but from all the hours I've spent reading/researching etc. here is my opinion... two fires, one of which (with more blushing) is an AWESOME example of the gene and the last is a nice black-backed normal. Possibly some cool genetic stuff going on with the mother. I would try pairing her to genes that tend to lighten, or add blushing. If she keeps throwing black backs you'll produce some really neat looking stuff! Is she a poss het?? Congrats on the clutch they're all gorgeous thanks for sharing!

    Is that black-backed male?

the black back is a male

Yes the black back is a male. He really looks amazing as well...the yellow on his back is a brighter yellow than the sides which really makes him look cool. Do you think I should breed him back to mom?

    anyone care to comment on...

I am wondering why the sheds are clear. I have ghosts and they were what I thought only had clear sheds...is it common for new babies to have clear sheds for a while? Its just I never paid much attention before.

deff breed back to mom try and find out exactly what's going on there. IF there's a super form of it, chances are you'll hit it when breeding back to mom! Good thing about it being a male is you can go ahead and throw him to mom and a few other nice looking females you think may react nicely to it in a single season as opposed to female they lay and are out till next season... anyway i'm sure u get what i'm saying! again congrats very nice clutch!!!

Re: need help identifying these balls

I am not an expert, and this is my first season of working with the Fire gene, but based on the pictures of the 2 that have the fire gene, I would guess that mom is a Yellowbelly. Take a look at the pictures of the Fire Yellowbelly on World of Ball Python, http://www.worldofballpythons.com/mo...-yellow-belly/. Your 2 hatchlings look very similar to those animals and the sides and bellies of your hatchlings made me think of Yellowbelly immediately.

Mom definitely is not a YB imo. She has some flaming which got passed on to the babies. The dad is a perfect 10, grade A fire so it's just good selective breeding. You have 2 fires and a normal imo. The black back may be genetic but my guess is it's not since neither of the parents really have it.

What are the sexes of the fires?
    1.0 normal bp
