    Pipped eggs drying out.

I had 6 eggs and they started pipping on monday. So far there is 4 out and 2 still in. The last 2 pipped early wednesday morning.

When they pipped i replaced the lid with one with a few small holes in it. Now the 2 eggs that are left seem like they are drying out. The outter shell is getting hard an brittle. I opened them up a bit more for them so they can get out a little easier. Just wondering if i should do anything else or just wait longer. Today is day 57. Just a little worried that they are drying up and will get stuck inside. This is my first clutch so hopefullly im just being paranoid.

Which is why you should just air out once a day instead of using holes

Do you have some saline handy? If not go and buy some, it will help with your problem.

You could mist them with a bit of water.

Airing out once a day is good enough when there are a few out of the egg?

I dabbed some water on them before I left for work. Hopefully that helps a little. They should be crawling out anytime. If they are still in when I get home ill see if they need more. And ill get some saline in the morning.

Don't use saline. If anything, use distilled.

I mist mine and keep the eggs really wet. Misting them will help clean out the gunk as well.
