Hi folks, so I just moved into an apartment of my own in Phoenix, AZ and I'm getting a bit lonely. I was thinking about getting a BP, but do not know of a reliable source to get one from.

Is any pet shop that sells them reliable or should I look for a specific breeder? I don't think I want to get one through a website, that would just feel weird.

It sounds like it would be very easy to take care of and would be a great addition to the long list of pets I've had in the past.

    Thanks for any tips.

    -Stu

I would suggest getting one through a breeder. Pet stores are notorious for not taking care of their reptiles correctly. I don't know of a reliable breeder in your area, maybe someone else does. Another way would be to see if there is a reptile show coming up in your area and purchase one there. I for one purchased mine over the internet/phone from a very reputable breeder, and many others on this website have done the same with fantastic results.

    lets try this again.

The Arizona Herpetological Association has monthly meetings at the Phoenix zoo. You might find some fellow snake lovers and recommendations for breeders. You might also check out their website for possible referrels. They have a message board and I noticed some BPs for sale and some for free:

Welcome to the forums, Stu! Good luck finding your bp, and please feel free to toss out any questions you have about him, or any other herps that pique your interest.

Welcome, Stu! Emroul is one of our mods and she lives in Arizona, so she may be able to give you a tip on breeders in the area. Also, I believe she may be working at a pet store that carries reptiles, so you could possibly just go directly to her.
