Lemon pastels go through an ugly duckling stage, then start to really shine after about their fourth or fifth shed. Kevin normally doesn't even post pictures until after the fourth or fifth shed.

As to those, I probably would choose the first one, though I really like my lemons to have an even more extreme blushed out head.

My founding lemon pastel is one generation removed from NERD, acquired in 2006, and verified by Kevin that his sire came from Kevin's facility.

This is an example of the progression of my female.

Hatch day - female on right

    After one or two sheds:

    After a few more sheds:

    After five or six sheds:

    As a yearling:

    As a two year old:

As for her blushing - Kevin believes that she MAY carry the fader gene. I need to breed her back to her dad to see if I get any crazy stuff he gets. This year, she was bred to my lesser (eggs in the 'bator now!)
