Hello all ! I recently bought a BP a little over a month ago. She (IZZY) has been doing great. she has already had a complete shed, and been eating one small rat once a week. I'm not to sure of her exact age but I know she is young. I'm keeping her in a 15 gal glass terrarium with a locking screen top. I have a zoo med UTH that stays on 24/7. I don't have it hooked up to a thermostat as of yet. I also bought 2 heat lamps, One with a ceramic bulb and the other a 55W purple night bulb that I use occasionally. I have a digital thermometer and hygrometer that is on the hot side, I don't have a thermometer for the cool side yet. The temp varies during the day from the mid to upper 80's to the low 90's. I haven't seen the temp go over 91 degrees. The humidity varies. I have seen it as low as 35 percent and as high as 70 without misting averaging 45-50 percent I'm guessing. I have a half log hide on the cool side and from what I can tell a clay or what appears to be a clay hide on the hot side. I have her water bowl in between the two on the back side of the tank. I also have a piece of driftwood over her water dish propped up on a small rock. I also bought her a few ornamental plants to help her feel more secure. I blacked out the tank with black construction paper. Her bedding is aspen to by the way. The reason for this post is because I have noticed when I first got her she used to go back and forth between her two hides. I spot clean her tank as soon as I notice anything. I changed out her aspen the other night and noticed when I did she was cruising around her tank for about 45 minutes to an hour or so. she was climbing on the log, the plants, and all over her hides. it was kind of cool seeing her do this. After she got done exploring I noticed her sitting underneath the driftwood next to her water dish at the back of her tank. I never noticed this before and id doesn't appear as if she moves at all. I fed her on Sunday and she ate fine....no issue with that what so ever. (I feed her in a separate feed box) I put everything back in the same spot, all her hides her water dish everything. Could it be she found a new place she likes to hide? or could she feel less secure because I messed something up in her home? I was handling her not to long ago for about 5 minutes and she didn't seem stressed at all. I put her back in and she went under her half log hide. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.![]()
