Have you ever owned a blood? I'd pick one up and see if I really liked it long-term, first, before completely switching gears. Just my take.

I'm thinking of changing my favorite ice cream flavor to strawberry. Do you think this is a good idea?

If you don't already own one you may not want to make a big jump before you own one for awhile.

I love my bloods and do enjoy them more than balls. That said they require much more space, are huge compared to a ball, and are not as easy going and non confrontational as a ball. They can get an attitude and when they throw their weight around it will surprise you how strong they are. Mine are all well behaved and my big girl is a puppy but even she likes to disagree when its time to go back in her home at times and wrangling a big blood is much more difficult than ever handling a ball.

I say start small and get one before you sell off your balls and equipment. I would also suggest finding a large adult to hold and handle a bit so you can get an idea of what you are going to end up with.

KMG is absolutely right. They are much more like a large Boa weight and strength wise even though they aren't that much longer than a Ball. My big females were stronger than the Burms I had that were twice their length! Like she said, if you can find someone with an adult to let you handle, that would be ideal. They are wonderful, unique snakes. But they aren't for everybody.

Depends. What's your current favorite flavor?
Adversity does not build character, it reveals it

I appreciate the SERIOUS input that was given. Also, I have held them and know that they are a different snake to deal with. I thought that this was called there friendliest site but guess you can't ask for a little advice anymore.
