I have a 7month Butter Ghost BP named Douglas. I have had him for about 3 months now. He is rather aggressive. The first two or three feedings were in his terrarium. I noticed he was overly aggressive anytime I was around, striking at me and hitting the glass. I decided to move him to a separate bin when feeding, but Douglas is still very aggressive. He is actually a a terrible striker, and has never gotten a meal on his first strike. I haven't been bitten yet, but I want him to be calm and not stressed out when handled or when I am around. A friend who is a breeder suggested tapping him on the nose with tongs to turn-off the feeding response, but I don't know if that is a solution or just a temporary fix. I try to handle him at least every 2 days, though it hasn't seemed to make him any more docile.
Does anyone have a suggestion, or do I just have a loveable jerk?
