Is Pecan wood safe for enclosure?

So, our pecan tree decided to do some major self-pruning today and I thought I might smooth down a piece to use as a climbing branch in Sunny's enclosure, but I can't seem to find any information in whether or not it's safe. I found something that said it was safe to use as a bird perch, but nothing specific to snakes.
What do y'all think?

If you bake it in the oven to kill any yuckies I don't know why it would hurt.

I'd be safe and not use it. I am not familiar with the oils within the wood and if or if not they can harm the snake.

There is more to worry about than bugs when using trees in your snake’s habitat.

You should be alright with it. If there's any moss or growths on it, sand them off, bake it for 20 minutes at 180 and enjoy the freebie.

Yeah, the tannins are what I'm worried about. What if I clear coat it with acrylic after baking?

Honestly, it's *probably* ok after baking. The heat should force any liquid out of the wood and kill anything in it. However, the sealing of the wood couldn't hurt!

In my honest opinion though, as cool as it may look, I stick with faux wood in my "display" tanks. Just easier to clean and worry free.

Well, that settles it. I don't want to take any chances. Not worth it.
