Need urgent help with ball python enclosure

Hello, I'm new here and looking for some advice.
I currently own one ball python (I've owned 2 others before him). I've had him for 4+ years and he is happy and healthy in his 90gal set up.

However, yesterday I was put in a situation where I had to rescue another bp. He is 3 years old, terribly skinny and underfed, and has burn marks from being kept in cage with a UTH INSIDE it. My problem is that I was completely unprepared for him. I have no resources where I live to go out and purchase an enclosure for him (nor the money to order one), so I figure I will have to build him an enclosure myself ASAP.

I was at a local Rona store today looking at melamine board, but I figured I would seek advice from experienced people before I went through with anything. I was wondering if you guys could give me any advice for building this poor guy an enclosure that will be as quick as possible. I'm sure he's stressed and I want to get him established as soon as I can.



Also, before I am lectured, I know I should never take in an animal without being able to provide for it before he gets here. This was an emergency situation. Thanks.

Just use a rubbermaid tub, should cost less than 20 dollars.

Paper towel is best for substrate in your situation.

If you're in a pinch, use a 28 or 32 qt underbed storage bin with a tight fitting and secure top. It'll cost you 10 bucks. Get a heat pad and make sure it's got a thermostat properly regulating it! A cheap one you can get rush shipped is http://www.amazon.com/Hydrofarm-MTPR.../dp/B000NZZG3S If you have an area of your house over 75 degrees it can probably live in the bin without the heat pad until that thermostat and a heat pad arrives / can be bought.

If it has burns it needs to go on paper towels until you can get it to a vet. They're going to give you silver sulfadiazine cream. Unfortunately it isn't over the counter. After it heals a bit, you can try feeding.

Thank you both! I currently have him in a rubbermaid that I used for my BP when I first got him. He's on papertowel as well.

As far as heat, it's a ridiculously hot summer here right now and temperature has been fine for him, and I do have heating pads.
I guess I just wanted to get him in a nice permanent set up instead of a rubbermaid. But maybe this is the best option for him right now.

Don't worry about a permanent enclosure until you get him healthy. The tub will be fine for quite awhile, and will be easiest for ensuring proper conditions. Get a heat pad and thermostat as soon as possible though.....it'll cost you around $50.
