    Mild burn or pre-shed?

I've never actually seen any burn other than a severe one in person so I can't tell.

I went away this weekend and left my snake in the care of my father while I was gone. While regulated by a heating pad, I've never seen the floor temperature go above 86 degrees. He's on newspaper and to my knowledge has never come directly into contact with the floor of the cage.

I left Friday and came back monday and his belly looked like this.

He just shed about 2 weeks ago, eyes are clear and his scales are bright and clean as ever. I'm kind of worried, because he's never looked like this pre-shed before.

It looks shed like to me as well, but the above makes no sense. Of course he can come in contact with the floor, pretty easy to get under newspaper, mine do it all the time, and newspaper will not insulate from the heat source at all. What do you mean regulated by a heating pad? Is there a thermostat on it? How are you regulating and measuring your temps?

Oops! Sorry, I apparently can't type. The thermostat*, while regulating the heating pad. I have it thermostat regulated, don't worry.
I've got a temp gun and a second digital temperature display on there, everything gives the same readings.

My boy never goes under his newspaper, never tries to. He stays under his hide.

But thanks guys. I got worried, I've just never seen his belly such a dark pink before and he only just shed so I was worried.
