    Hi all!
After my experience the other day I have decided that it would be cool to mix two of my hobbies. Rock climbing, and Herping.

I went up the canyon to do some bouldering (small climbs without ropes). I went to one of my favorite boulders and I was about 5 ft away from it when I noticed a great basin rattler sitting at its base. I wish I had my camera with me, he was such a great looking snake! It was kind scary because the thing didnt even rattle!
Needless to say I didnt climb that one
I warned the other two climbers in the area. One of them told me he had been climbing a couple of weeks earlier and had almost put his hand on one while climbing! That is one lucky dude...
Anyway, Ill be going alot more this summer and Ill bring my camera in hopes to get some cool pics.
    Just thought Id share 8)

I agree with Judy. Be very careful out there. Here where I work we have 4 survey crews and they are always running into different species of snakes. They know that I am into snakes so they always come tell me about it and what it looked like. A few times they came really close to picking up some very dangerous snakes like Water Moccosins. They think that if it dont have a rattle then its not venemous. I always tell them that those snakes are there for a reason and its best just to leave them alone. But they do get some cool pics sometimes since all of our crews have digital cameras. I will post some if they bring me some since summer is rolling around they should be getting some great pics.
    Thanks,
    Damien

oh I'm always careful. I tend to make a lot of noise and move slowly. Im not itching to get bitten by a hot. I think im more likely to fall and break my neck then get bitten to tell ya the truth :p
