I've been thinking a lot about purchasing a 100% het albino. My question here is mainly for the big time keepers here at bp.net... Where should I begin my hunt for a good deal? I don't want to get screwed here... thanks in advance for replies...

I havnt gotten that far yet, but I guess I good question would be, are you looking more for cheap or for quality? I have seen some hets at the more obscure sellers go for pretty cheap but ya never know if they are scammers. Personally I would rather go with a big name and pay a little more. Good luck and let me know who you go with and how that works out. (sorry Im not that much help)

thats why i posted this man. i am still pretty new to ball pythons, and this would be quite an investment. the money isn't really the issue. but its what i get for the money that is the issue. if i go with a cheap het off a classified forum, the chances of it being a het are pretty slim. i guess my question here is... if YOU were purchasing a het albino, where would you get it?

Will, I am probably newer to the world of BP's & snakes in general than you are. I would have to say that an AlexHue or Dan & Collette over at BallPython.com would be a couple of good places to look. Those are two VERY reputable breeders & although you would pay more, what you ask for is gunna be what you get.

I am not trying to tell you how to spend your money since someone already tried to do that to me. All I can tell ya is that investing in a Het is a huge deal, especially since i know you plan to breed BP's. So I would say that paying the extra scratch is the way to go in this situation. Just my double pennies, but I thought I would break it down for you like that!
Life is like a game of poker. You can play each hand to the best of your ability but you are still going to run into a bad beat from time to time. What matters is how you handle it. Do you go on tilt or can you maintain your composure & rebuild your stack?

Hey Will. That's awesome that you want to get into albinos. I would ONLY trust the big boys when dealing with hets (ie: The Snake Keeper, VPI, NERD, etc..). It's not that the other breeders aren't being truthful, there are just SSOOO many scammers out there, ESPECIALLY when it comes to hets. Make sure you recieve a receipt and a photo ID of the snakes. Even if you have to pay $50 more, I would say it is definately worth it. You can't really be cheap when it comes to hets (unless you feel like getting screwed); and remember, if it sounds to good to be true (ie a pair of het albinos for $500) it probably is. Hope that helps.
