Albino Corn or Albino Black Rat?!?

First of all, I am NOT a Colubrid guy. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my pythons and boas BUT I took in a good healthy rescue to give him a forever home. I was told he was a Corn, but a friend who is more adept in identifying Colubrids says he's an Albino Black Rat. I trust her, but could use a few more experienced opinions. He is good sized, about 3.5' long, thick bodied. Here are the crappy pics I took late last night. (Forgive the enclosure, it was the only spare AT tank I had and will be getting him a much better set up soon):

I'll say rat snake: the head and coloring doesn't look right for a corn IMO.

Re: Albino Corn or Albino Black Rat?!?

I will 100% confirm that as an Albino Black Rat. I have one who is my "prized" snake.

    Gorgeous snake.

Note- they love to borrow so I suggest making the substrate deep and something they can make tunnels in.

aybreaker is correct about the head and coloring:

Found that out VERY quickly and added another couple inches of substrate. Probed her and she is definitely a girl! Forced me into a crash course on Rat Snakes and have LOVED learning all I can. Pounding rats like no one's business, loves to come out to be held, weighed in at 632 grams. She is just an absolute joy to have her in my collection. So much personality, she comes right to me, the burrowing, and the mock rattle with her tail pretending to be a tough rattlesnake.

NEVER in a million years did I ever think a Coulbrid would make their way into my collection as I am a hard core python and boa guy; let alone steal my heart...but she sure has.

Only sad thing is she's in quarantine right now so I don't get to handle her as much as I would like. But I am sure she'll be worth the wait.

Many thanks everyone! I am sooo blessed to have been able to give her her final forever home!

Re: Albino Corn or Albino Black Rat?!?

They are smart too or at least very aware of what's going on around them. Mine observes outside the tank and keeps an eye on things walking by.

When mine is "bad", I give him a tap on the nose and tell him bad. He calms down and curls up around my neck afterward.

The breeder I got mine off of said his Albino got out of her cage a couple times and slithered her way up into bed with "daddy". He didn't mind her sleeping with him, just didn't want to wake up to his prized snake crushed under his girth. He fixed the tank after the second time he woke up with her next to him.

Re: Albino Corn or Albino Black Rat?!?

Scientifically snakes are "mindless" (instinct rather than thought), but in my experience over the years...I disagree. They "know" who isn't a threat and who is and might I even say, "recognize" their handlers.
