Thermoregulation question
I have not seen my bp go in his warm hide in days. He is constantly on the cool side in that hide. Is there any kind of reason for this? Has anyone seen their bp do this? The temp in his warm hide is always right around 89-90. Also the hides are identical so it can't be that the cool hide is more secure feeling for him. I'm sure it's not a big deal but I'm just curious to see if anyone has seen this before.
thank you

Re: Thermoregulation question
Normal ball python behavior. Some switch back and forth throughout the day, and some have a personal preference. I have 3 BPs: one prefers warm side, one prefers cool, and one that switches every other day. As long as you're offering the right thermal gradient you have nothing to worry about.

Re: Thermoregulation question
I've noticed that mine spend more time on the warm side for 2-3 days after they eat, then they switch to the cooler side. Perhaps yours is just hungry? Also, check that the thermostat that regulates his warm side UTH hasn't failed, some fail so they stay on instead of off.
