Glass Thickness?

Hello everyone, I'm new here. I just had a quick question about glass thickness for an enclosure I'm building. My panels would have to be about 22"x22" each and would be framed with wood. Like individual windows. Anyway, on some of the bigger boas and pythons I hear people say to use 1/4", but for something smaller, like a dwarf boa or a BP, could you get by with maybe 1/8" double strength? I figured since the panels wouldn't be too big, and would have solid frames, 1/8" may suffice. I'm trying to keep weight down, since I'm building a stackable enclosure.

Any thoughts?

Sorry if this is in the wrong section, I found this by accident and it was the only place I could find "forum tools"... So I might as well ask, what's the easiest way to start a thread in select categories??

Plexi Glass or Lexan would work just as well, keep weight way down, and be more impact resistant.
You only have to be careful what you clean it with so you don't scratch it.
Are we talking about the front doors or the whole thing?

The scratching is why I don't want to use plexiglass or variations of.

It would just be the glass and sides. I built something similar for my Bearded Dragon, but I don't know how to post pics yet. Or I'm not allowed yet. I used 1/8" for that, and it works great. But I know snakes like to push and look for ways to escape (weak spots, gaps, etc.).

No 1/8 will not be strong enough 1/4 at least. Snakes not only weigh more but are able to apply far more force I have had a snake break 12 guage wire. I would figure 1/4 for the sides and if you were thing floor as well 1/4 or heavier. I would suggest plain PVC yes it is heavy too (not expanded which is lighter and has air bubbles through it) it is tough and cleans easily it also is easily heated through as well.

Yeah. I'm actually shooting for a Caulker Cay Boa. They're similar in size, that's why I checked here. The bottom is just storage, and the top is a hood to hold lights, timers, stats, etc.

For my Cay Boa, I was thinking 5' W, 2' D, 2' H. I know this is a BP forum, but is that too big? They max out at about 5 ft.
