    Spider wobble stress induced?

Well I have had my spider ball python for a week now. When I first got him home he had a slight wobble and he did in the Pet store as well, but not as bad as the other spiders housed with him. He hides all day which is good and comes out at night. I notice no wobble at all now since he settled in and ate. Is the wobble brought on by stress? He had no hides at petco and he looked stressed to me when I got him.

You'll probably see it more often when he's excited, such as mealtimes and during handling. Some spiders have a massive wobble, some have very minor ones that don't present all the time. He hasn't been "cured", but it's nice that it's minor! =] Is he your first BP?

    Re: Spider wobble stress induced?

I have a spinner just under a year old that wobbles only when she eats or if she's fearful. If the condition isn't bad enough to affect the snake's quality of life, don't worry about it.

Yeah, it is usually made worse by stress. Glad he is happy in his new home!

I have a banana cali King and a motley corn. I also had a 8 year old bp that I adopted who just passed away at 14 from unknown reasons. I know the wobble is permanent but it was present slightly and now is not noticeable which made me believe stress brought it out the first few days from being shipped and then taken to a new home again.

It is not bad at all even when it was noticeable. It's clutch mate was cork screwing like crazy. That's why I picked mine because of the very little wobble.

All balls with the spider gene wobble, from a slight head tilt to full out corkscrews. Stress seems to be the key to make it show.
Don't let it change your mind or hold you back on the gene, it gives them a certain character.

Definitely not. The spider gene is my favorite morph because of the reduced pattern, green eyes, white belly, and facial pattern. I knew about the whole wobble before I got one I just did not know if stress made it worse.
