Heating Probe Question
Hello everyone! Today I received my thermostat and have it set to 99 degrees F and my temp gun says it is at a steady 91 degrees F but my question is where should I put the heat probe for the thermostat? Right now I have it IN the cage and it seems to be fine. Luna (my Albino BP) has not messed with the probe at all since I put it under my hiding spot for her. Should I move it outside and under the heating pad? Or leave it inside?

Re: Heating Probe Question
You want to leave it outside of the cage between the cage and heat pad. Inside is dangerous. It can be moved by the snake or damaged (by water/urine/whatever) and mess up your heating pad regulation and could potentially malfunction.

Hmm. I wouldn't have the heating pad IN the enclosure. BP's are heavy bodied snakes, and even though she's not messing with it now, it's bound to be wiggled loose one of these days. I highly recommend putting the UTH and Thermostat probe under her cage., with the probe sandwiched in between the UTH and bottom of the cage. Is there any reason you couldn't do that? (Genuinely curious)
Edit: Nikki kinda beat me to it.
Kinda weird that you have to crank the thermostat up that high to achieve correct temps. hmm. I would double check the accuracy of the temp gun against another thermometer. hmm...

Another thing to note after you've moved the probe, you want the temp on the bottom glass to NEVER exceed 95*. On top of your substrate (if it's a thin layer), it should be 88*-92* and that is perfect.
