New Here - Don't Want to Step on Any Toes
Hello:
I am new here and had a question about promoting my website. I do not want to violate any protocols and wanted to know if it is okay for me to post an introductory thread about it (classified ad listing website).
I do not want to piss anyone off or do anything that would be considered bad form.
Thanks!

Re: New Here - Don't Want to Step on Any Toes
Hi,
It would have to be placed in the for sale/ wanted forum and there are some limits on the number of ads you can place in a year based on your usergroup.
Or, of course, you can take out advertising space on the forum itself.
We don't mind people sharing their personal websites as long as they avoid making it a sales post but business focused websites have to be handled a little differently to stay within the rules of the site.
Make sure to read the sticky at the top of the for sale forum too - the rules are a little different in regards to posting and bumping.

Dr. Del:
Thank you for the prompt reply. I just wanted to be clear about something. I personally am not selling anything as far a living organism nor do I make any money off of any transaction involving the sale of an organism.
I simply have created a classified ad website that allows individuals to place free ads of their animals that they have for sale.
I read the top post in the forum you advised about burmese python notification and the main one published in 2008.
Am I allowed to provide a descriptive post about my website in that area of the forums?
FWIW, I totally understand where you are coming from about posting and bumping ads over and over. I have no intention of doing that nor will I be one of those guys that makes every post about his website. I simply want to introduce it to your readers.
Thanks.

Re: New Here - Don't Want to Step on Any Toes
As long as you stay in the # of post that you are allowed in a year you can advertise your website in the forsale section with out worries. There maybe other loop holes to but that one is safe. I've also seen other people put there website link in their signature bar and haven't seen anything done about that. But thank you for adhereing to the rules and asking before just posting. Good luck with your site.

Dr. Del
I didn't mean to give an impression of disingenuousness (is that a word?)...I was simply wanting to make sure that we were on the same page as far as posting an ad for an actual animal vs. a service.
I appreciate you and HoFR taking the time to respond. Last thing I want to do is "piss in your pool" so to speak.
