    PayPal Buyer Protection

Was reading over the PayPal Buyer Protection terms yesterday and came across this little gem:

    13.2 Eligibility Requirements.

1.To be eligible for PayPal Purchase Protection you must meet all of the following requirements:
    * Pay for the full amount of the item with one payment. Items purchased with multiple payments – like a deposit followed by a final payment – are not eligible.
I didn't realize this. I know some people feel safer using PayPal because of their Buyer Protection. Just thought ya'll would like to know that if you're making payments on an animal that you're not protected.

Live animals are also not covered.

Bottom line it all comes down to who you are doing business with and if you really have issues there is always your credit card company

    Re: PayPal Buyer Protection

As a seller I would rather just take credit cards directly. That way buyers don't have to worry about violating PP's ToS when buying on a payment plan or for purchasing a live animal. There are two companies that provide pay-as-you-go, no monthly fee CC payment processing for both businesses and individuals: http://www.ourphoneswipe.com/ and https://squareup.com/. After investigating both I decided to use the first vendor as its fees were the lowest (even lower than PP!), and it is PCI compliant where reportedly SquareUp is not.

Note that both require some sort of SmartPhone but most business folks have one anyway.

Can you use services like Square and Phone Swipe over the internet though? I thought that was just for in-person transactions

I believe that you can input CC numbers manually with Square.

I did not know that! Very cool. I think I will go with something like this when I start selling my animals. Paypal is fine, but also a headache at times.

Both methods will accept keyed transactions as well as swiped, so they would be fine for online sellers.

I am a square user however I keep that in the even of a show and to use to swipe the card not to key it in, because the one thing to keep in mind and one of the reasons why people like Paypal is the fact that you do not give your CC info directly to a seller, not everyone is comfortable providing a credit card number over the phone to an unknown seller.
