I bred my female dinker and took her into the vet school, where I am a student, to get her ultrasounded for follicles. It was the first snake ultrasound that the vet school radiology department had done (Not an exotics school), and so they told me no folliclesAt that point they asked if they could x-ray her for educational purposes, and since she was "not gravid" I agreed. Well upon reviewing the x-rays we indeed counted 5 eggs! What a learning experience! The school now knows what eggs look like on ultrasound:
Here are some of the X-rays:
Fingers crossed that the eggs turn out well! Does anyone have any idea, based on the size of the eggs, when she is due to lay? I missed the ovulation, and she shed, but I really didn't think she was pregnant so I paid little attention to the shed. It could be preovulatory, or pre-lay! Also, does anyone have any thoughts about using a light grid to place the eggs on to prevent mould, versus just placing them straight on the substrate?
P.S. let me know if the photos worked or not... I haven't quite figured out the best way to post images on here yet!
