Inputs on business idea
Hi everyone,
So I've been thinking about this project for over a year, and am very excited to get the ball rolling.
I am building a snake room and investing in 2 Coral Glows, as well as a few sub-adult to adult females.
I absolutely love ball pythons and find them to be the perfect pet, and I cannot wait to be able to supply others with these morphs!
Of course, I was thinking of doing a website as well as a blog for this project and I was thinking of:
BBP - Blistering Ball Pythons.
What do you guys think?
Any ideas or advice for a newcomer?
Thanks!

My advice would be to keep balls for a little while before you drop tens of thousands of dollars into them. Start out with some cheaper morphs and only a couple. No need to rush.
Its like if you wanted to learn how to work on cars. You wouldn't go out and buy a ferrari and start taking it apart and trying to mod it. You'd buy a cheap older car and buy the parts and slowly rebuild it. You learn how to work on them as you rebuild it. If you make a mistake, its not a huge deal bc you're not working on a super expensive car.
Im not saying that if something were to happen to a cheaper snake it'd be ok. But its easy to mess up when you're new and you could lose tens of thousands of dollars literally over nite.
EDIT: i just saw your sig lol. So do you already have those bps and have kept them for awhile? If so, then disregard my advice lol.

Hi there,
Well, while is a relative term, but I am not complete new to snakes or pets in general.
I've had my ball pythons for a bit over a year, so not an extremely long time, but I didn't just start yesterday
I very much appreciate the advice though

If I were going to drop thousands on a snake I would want to get into something newer that has yet to be tapped into. Dont get me wrong CGs are cool but wouldnt you like to be at the front of a sweet new project? A couple I can think of off the top of my head that have a lot of work left to be done with the gene is Ultramel and a really cool one is the black belly. There are more out there but thats just what I would do. JHB Reptiles has some black bellies and the yellow jacket is pretty hot.

I agree with andy. CG's are nice, just not my cup of tea :p
Ultramels... Well travis and brian changed my opinion on that lol!

I have actually looked at those as well.
The reason I picked coral glows is because I absolutely love them.
They are eye-catching, and a black pastel coral glow / cinnamon coral glow are my favorite ball pythons thus far.
I cannot wait to see a super black pastel coral glow or a variation of that.
I also feel like in the coming years, the price on coral glows will drop down so that most people can get one if they choose to.
If that is the case, I would love to be able to supply them to people and put a smile to their faces

Yea x2 lol.
If you're doing it for that reason go for it. Just don't expect it to be a "get rich quick" scheme. (Not saying you do, certainly doesn't seem that way.)

I actually have fun plans for this project.
I do have a bunch of goofy and rewarding ideas that I would like to pull the trigger on, but alas, I must wait until the time comes.
I feel that if everything goes as planned (which it never does), I'd like to give back a good amount to the community (especially this website since it has been a wealth of information).

There are a few things that are important aside from animal care and breeding.
1# Reputation: It does not matter if you have a few high end mutations, if you are not involved and no one knows who you are, it will be hard for people to drop 1,2,5 or 10K with you. Being involved in this community is playing a part. I know you have to start somewhere and usually it is by helping others and offering solid advice.
2# Business name, make sure you chose the right one, when I read yours I immediately thought of Blister disease, not that appealing IMO
