    Albino won't breed

My male albino wont have anything to do with breeding my two het girls. He will either just curl up with them or go to the opposite side of the tub. I've tried placing sperm plugs on her back, placing sheds in his tub, putting him with breeding males, placing two males in with a female, and he does nothing. Is there anything I can do that I haven't already done. He is big enough to breed and has good sperm plugs and both hemipens, he just refuses to use them.

Try putting him in with her after she sheds, and leave HER shed in with her.

I have tried using male sheds with almost no noticeable difference.
I have tried plugs with no noticeable difference.
I do not put males with other males, all I've ever see that do is stress out the non breeding male even more so.

Patience, good husbandry, a receptive female and more patience is required for some males, good luck

I've used her sheds in his tub and placed him in after she shed with the same results. She is receptive, just as soon as I place a different male in there is a lock.

    How old is he?
    How much does he weigh?
    Is he eating regularly?

There's a lot of things that could be the issue, and then there is just those males that take a couple of seasons to figure things out.
Not every male is going to be a stellar breeder and some just flat out fail to be good breeders.

He is two years old, he is off feed and now he is 945 grams. He was 1068 in December. I'm really hoping he decides to breed as he is 50% het pied as well.

Are you sure he's not breeding? I've got a het albino male whom I had never seen court or breed with the females I put him with, yet the females produced fertile clutches every year. What kind of substrate are you using? If you use clean white newspaper you can often see 'tracks' on the paper after a successful mating.

    Re: Albino won't breed

some males won't breed even with a ready female. then the following year, they become breeding machines. my lesser females bred before their brother, this year he started to breed. some breed sooner than others. it sucks but it happens!

I hear you. I have a mojave male that refuses to breed. I think he's 4 years old now and producing sperm plugs. I've tried everything you have with no luck. I have been told to take him for a car ride, I'm told it could work, but haven't tried.
