Me and my mother have been keeping bearded dragons and ball pythons for a couple years now and wanted to try to breed the bearded dragons. Our female laid 19 eggs on Saturday so needless to say it was a very exciting and stressful day. If anyone have any advice on the incubation set up or anything to look out for with new hatchlings please don't be afraid to share this is my first time breeding any animal so i'm constantly second guessing everything that I do. Also I have a question we are going to keep at least one of the beardies out of the clutch. I have a hypo trans who is adorable we picked him up at a reptile expo. From the same breeder that we purchased him from we also purchased a sand fire het hypo who is the mother of this clutch and the father of the clutch is a leather back and they are going to be some beautiful babies when they hatch. What I want to know is if by any chance if the hypo trans that I have and the sand fire het hypo that my mother has are related would it be harmful for my hypo trans to try to breed with one of her sand fire het hypo offspring?

Congrats on your eggs. Make sure not to turn them over and try to keep your temps as stable as possible. I've heard temperature spikes can cause baby's to have problems with their temperaments :p

When I had a clutch i just used a simple hovabator you can buy at any feed store made for chickens. Something with a digital thermostat would be better though. I used vermiculite as a substrate and added just enough water where it would clump but not drop with water and sealed the tub.

As far as breeding those 2 together. It's something that happens but like with any species, in like breeding should be kept to a minimum.

Ok so after two very long months of waiting they finally started hatching. We have two out of the egg and 3 on there way out. I only have one picture and its not the best pic Ill get more later. [IMG][/IMG] Ok so the mother is a het hypo and the father of this clutch is a leatherback so im waiting for a 66% ph hypo leatherback to hatch because that's the one im keeping for myself.
