Corn snake heat pad watt?

Hello,
I am very interested in purchasing a Corn Snake, and I was wondering since there hot spot temperatures are alot lower than Ball Pythons, would using a heating pad be okay for the hot spot? Also, what type of wattage of the heating pad should I get? I was thinking of getting Hagen Exo-Terra Desert Heat Wave Terrarium Substrate Heater heating pad ( Link posted below ) but, I do not know what wattage to get that will probably heat her, the cage size will be a 36 x 18 x 12 Exo Terra Terrarium ( link will also be posted below )
Any help will gladly be appreciated!

It doesn't matter what wattage it is, you'll still have to get a thermostat to control it. So go by size. You want one that will cover 1/4 to 1/3 of the floor space.

No matter what kind of heat pad you use, it needs to cover 1/4-1/3 of your terrarium. On top of that, you NEED a thermostat (just like with ball pythons). Hot spots for corns are about 86* and the cold end can be about 70* with no problems (I usually keep mine around 75*). You can easily get this by using a UTH (I've got 5 corns and 4 are in a rack with heat tape) or a heat lamp (I've got another corn in a tank with a heat lamp controlled by a dimmer). Both are perfectly acceptable for corns.

Since you've not ventured into corns before, I highly recommend the book by Bill and Cathy Love about corn snakes (I think it's called Cornsnakes). There's a lot of useful information. Most importantly, you'll probably be getting a baby and they are little escape artists! Make sure that door is closed and locked. Also, I used to have a similar cage and my corn would go behind the backdrop and park herself halfway up the tank wall between the background and the glass. I panicked on several occasions when I thought she was missing only to find her hanging out back there. Just a heads up!

Just to add. Don't trust the ones that say they only get 10-20* warmer than room temp.
I was moving my King Snakes around and had one. (Was waiting for heat tape). Plugged it in and it was at 120* in about 10 mins.
Cut off the cords and threw them out.

No matter what you use. Spend a little extra for a good t-stat.
