Ok stop by Petco to pick up some more frozen rodents for Ozzy on the way home from church this am and they had NO frozen nothing so I had to buy live.
So I had to bring it home and do the dirty deed ( no not that dirty deed get you mind out of the gutter)
I had to bag it up and slam it against the counter to kill it.
NEVER want to have to do that again, God that was awful. I wasn't right for about 15-20 mins after. I guess I just don't have that killer in me anymore. The dude at the Petco that I talk to all the time said he would slam it for me when he got off but couldn't do it on the clock but I figured I better be a "big girl" and do it myself.
Sorry just had to share, Thanks
Oh by the way Ozzy seem to love it even more, hope I haven't started a trend.

Ugh, I'm going to buy my mice from rodentpro.com. that way I won't have to worry about them having no frozen mice left. Sorry you had to kill them, ugh. I couldn't have done that.

Yeah I have had to do that a couple of times and it's not something I care to do again any time soon. But thankfully since my boys are now on F/T it's not an issue.

    How's the weather your way?

I kill rodents for a living, lol. I work at a reptile center and when people want a mouse or rat freshkilled, I have to do it. Plus sometimes I have to put down like 300 mice a night (man, does that suck, lol). I guess I'm not so girly, but it doesn't really bother me at all anymore. After a few times you just get used to it; and trust me, mice are NOT cute afterall lol....

I did that just yesterday. I killed a rat and a mouse. I don't really have a problem with killing them for my snakes but I guess it takes some getting used to. Yesterday I bought a small rat for Jojo. I slammed him against the counter and assumed he was dead. He was motionless when i was using the tongs to do the rat dance. Well when Jojo striked at him the rat let out a little squeel but didnt move when Jojo was contricting him. After having snakes for like 3 years it still makes my cringe when i hear a rodent squeel after being struck.
    Thanks,
    Damien

Did the f/k experience once, never do it again! I don't consider myself a 'girly-girl', but there's no way I can handle that. I don't want to get used to it. And I don't feel so bad b/c even my man can't deal.....hopefully I'll never be w/o frozen!! *crosses fingers*

I never have killed a mouse or a rat.. actually, I even have a hard time killing spiders. I usually just catch them and let them go outside. I'm glad Munch enjoys the f/t.

I came back up to school after going home for memorial day weekend and I found that he had a perfect shed. I probably wouldn't be that excited about it but this was the first time he has shed. I've never had a reptile as a pet before, so to see that he had a perfect shed made me happy. I must be doing somethin' right huh? Ha Then right after that, I attemped to feed him and he ate like a king. Good day for Munch!

Good for Munch! It's a good sign that he had a good shed and I know how proud you feel when it happens, keep up the good work.

I'm right there with Jennifer as far as killing mice goes. Look at it like this: We are able to kill mice quickly and humanely, they barely even see it coming, much less feel any pain. If a mouse bites us, we can usually heal ourselves with relative ease. On the other hand, you could leave the killing up to your snake, which is not able to kill the mouse as fast as we can, and runs a high risk of being attacked. On top of that, if your snake does take some damage, there is a much greater risk of complications. Nature gave us the upper hand, so we have the duty to protect our pets.

There is no pleasure in having nothing to do; the fun is in having lots to do and not doing it.
