    Snake bite problem?

So I just got bit by my snake... He is only 400 grams so it was not that bad of a bite... The little bugger had just finished eating a live mouse... But here is the thing he had just finished and I stuck my hand in there and bam! Right on the middle finger... Should I be worried of a disease that the mouse could of had and is now in my blood? I did bleed a little bit.

P.S I'm using my iPhone so I can't upload a picture as I don't know how, once I get to my computer on Monday ill upload a picture if you guys want.

For people that are afraid of getting bit by your snake don't be... I was always worried and it just happened and it was like wow... I was worried about that. It hurts more stubbing your toe then getting bit by a snake.

    Snake bite problem?

Nah you should be fine. I'd just rub some hand sanitizer in it.

Wash your hands, put a little antibiotic ointment on it if it makes you feel better. You'll be fine.

    Re: Snake bite problem?

i dont know for sure, but there should be no problem.

the thing is that the rat colonies that rat breeders have are typically free of any disease. They start their breeding colonies with perfectly healthy premium rats, and keep it that way by isolating the breeding project. If a breeding colony gets infected with anything, the radical methods of dealing with it are preferred because disease could cripple the output of the colony indefinitely. So they either sort out and cull all sick animals and all animals that might be sick, or they even cull the whole colony, disinfect the room, and start over with new rats.

so you should be fine. If the rat had anything, it probarbly contracted it in the pet store.

Ball pythons have an anti-coagulant in there saliva which thins blood making you bleed more. It is beneficial because you can actually bleed out most, if not all bacteria. Just put on some peroxide and wash your hands. Nothing serious though

Just give a nice wash, dry it, apply pressure to stop the bleeding and keep it covered. Sometimes animal bites do make bruises and sometimes the wound can get infected, but it's generally less common if the wound(and animal) are kept in good conditions. I'm a shelter worker and a cat-lady-in-training, I've had quite a few overexcited animals give me a scratch or a nip.

Cool thing about snakes, they're saliva is an anti-coagulant (means it keeps the blood from thickening And turning into a scab) it means you bleed more from a snake bite, but it also helps flush out any would-be bacteria. Pretty cool huh?
