Help for a Human and Funding Her Reptile Addiction??
Hey guys,
I decided to post this here cause it would mean more BPs for me in the near future
I'm about to graduate with a BA in Biology and move back home to San Diego. I have 6 BPs at the moment, and the only thing standing between me and more BPs and future breeding is a job (and an apartment that will follow the job)! My love for reptiles has grown dramatically in the last few years and I've since had the pleasure of working with alligators, big burms, RTs, beardies, iguanas, the whole nine yards. My fellow interns always commented how at-home I looked handling the snakes and alligators and they were spot-on. I've helped many people overcome their fears of snakes and had the joy the other day of interrupting the employee at Petco and educating customers about proper BP care . I love every moment I get back from classes and can just sit with my snakes and unwind and I love helping other people understand and share that love.
I've applied to a bunch of jobs so far, but I'm wondering if any of you know of any great places for someone like me to work in SD? Any big-time breeders or other places that might be looking for a knowledgeable employee hoping to learn more?? Thanks for any input you guys may have!

Why dont you do programs/presentations with your snakes to small groups and charge a fee for it? Ive done a home schooled group and two kids parties and made $100+ each time

Research any zoos and even rescues in the area, most do pay people to care for the animals in their care.
Doing small shows like 4thesnakelady mentioned is a great idea as well, but you really NEED to be insured to
do that. If someone were to get bitten or squeezed too tightly, in their eyes, you could have a law suit in your hands.
Lets face it, we LOVE to sue each other.
Good Luck

Man, until the last few sentences there I seriously thought you were going to ask for donations for more snakes.

Re: Help for a Human and Funding Her Reptile Addiction??
These are great suggestions thank you!! I've done a ton of exotic animal programs with the facility I've been interning at for years, so it'd be fun to do it with my own animals! I basically had a position secured there, but unfortunately the busy summer season starts before I can start working, so I think it'll be a similar situation in most similar rescue places. Thanks for the tip about getting insurance! Showing my animals would also be a great excuse to get more....hmmm, I'm seeing hognose and RTs on the horizon
Haha let's see how could one justify asking for donations for more snakes maybee...I'll take them to local hospitals to comfort patients or...nope, that's all I got! I think we'd all agree donations would be more than welcome! HAHA
Thank you for the suggestions!!

Another good idea would be to set up an LLC to protect yourself from litigation.
I have a friend that does shows in new York city and has been making some big money.
