BP acting odd? Unsure if neurological or not.
Hi guys! I posted here recently when my BP scraped her head and removed a few scales, and you all helped amazingly. I figured I'd give it another try before I look in to anything else. S/he's a normal ball python that my brother and sister in law bought from Petsmart as a birthday present, surprising me with it before I could deal with the whole Petsmart/Petco issue. I'm not sure what her gender is, but I was told that Petsmart only carried female animals.
By now she is around 2 years old going by what they said, and so far there has been no health problems. She eats like a beast, never once missed a meal, sheds beautifully, no mite problems. I'm working on getting a gram scale (which by the way, can any of you suggest one? I'd prefer one that could weigh both a BP and a Crestie) but for now her weight is kind of unknown. She is active, temps range from high 70s, low 80s in her cold spot, high 80s low 90s for her warm spot. Appropriately sized water dish, cypress mulch, humidity is tough to keep in but I mist early morning, late night. During sheds she has a moist towel to keep it around 70%. She's made the change to small F/T rats, but more onto the problem. Which happened once or twice a few months back.
This is hard to describe, but I'll try and see if I can't get a video of it, if she does it again. She usually peaks out of her warm hide and kind of.. writhes? around, not violently or anything, all while opening and closing her mouth. Her head is generally turned parallel to her neck. Writhing may be the wrong term, but her neck is kept tense and kind of wavy? A few months back when she did this, a clear liquid would sometimes seep from her mouth. Not foam, or froth. There's no wheezing or coughing, nor any mucous. She pretty consistent on urinating/defecating.
I'm stumped. I'm also hesitating on going to the veterinarian, because like I said, this has only happened a handful of times, and beyond that she seems perfectly healthy. I did notice whenever she was a hatchling when she fed, she kind of had tremors? Usually while she was downing the mouse. I haven't seen her do anything else like that other than this.

As far as gram scales go i picked one up from walmart for $20 thats made by mainstay and goes upto 5000 grams, its pretty good but doesn't do decimal grams just whole. As far as her odd behavior i would strongly suggest a vet visit, i have never seen a snake do that before but i am still a novice to snakes in general.

@ Renouji - I'd love to take her to the vet, but the problem is she doesn't do this all the time. Not even monthly. Aside from that, everything else has been going great. It's no secret reptilian vets are expensive. Trust me when I say I will though, if I have to.
@ hypnotixdmp - She's definitely a normal.

I'm tellin ya, it's gas, mine had done it before too, it's not as much writhing as it is clenching different areas of her body right?
Opening and closing her mouth?
my normal Male did it just a month or so ago. I wouldn't be worried.

yea i forget not everyone is as lucky as i am about vets, my vet only charges $65 a visit and will see all my reptiles for that price. He has even given me "sample" medication for them when i can't afford it. More good vets need to be out there i think.
